Andrew is one of the founding partners of Baxter Brown McArthur.
He has over 20 years’ experience representing clients in the police station, Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court.
Andrew has extensive experience conducting cases across the criminal spectrum, specialising in serious and complex matters. His areas of particular interest are homicide; sexual offences; drug conspiracies and fraud.
He is regularly instructed to defend clients being prosecuted by the National Crime Agency, Serious Fraud Office, Trading Standards, and HMRC.
As a Higher Court Advocate, Andrew is able to represent clients from the police station through to trial whether that be at the lower or higher courts.
Andrew is pro-active and meticulous in his preparation and provides a reassuring presence for his clients. He is a persuasive advocate who regularly achieves outcomes that surpass clients’ expectations.
Notable Cases:
R v H and another (2019) – Andrew represented a 17-year-old male charged, alongside another male, with the murder of an 18-year-old male. A jury at the Old Bailey acquitted the client of murder and he pleaded guilty to manslaughter
R v B and others (2019) – Andrew represented a 16-year-old male accused of murdering a delivery driver alongside 5 other young males
R v M (2018) – Andrew represented a male charged with blackmail, making threats to kill, and possession of knife. The CPS subsequently offered no evidence against the client
R v R (2017) – Andrew represented a male charged with causing death by careless driving
R v L (2016) – Andrew represented a woman accused of murdering her husband. The client put forward a defence of self-defence and she was acquitted of murder by a jury following a trial at Wood Green Crown Court
